Where does this data come from?

Realtor.com's monthly housing inventory data, published through the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED). It covers the United States, every state, and most metro areas and counties.

What do the series mean?

Active listings is the count of homes for sale during the month. New listings is how many came on. Median days on market is how long the typical listing had been up. Median listing price is the asking price, not the sale price.

Monthly, usually published a few weeks after month end.

How do I use it as a seller?

Rising inventory and days on market mean more competition and slower sales; price on the comparables and present well. Falling inventory favors sellers who are ready to go quickly.
